Fenway, 5/24/10
The wind direction wasn’t right tonight, but there was a small swell (about three feet) at Fenway. The forecast called for it to be better in Narragansett, but I didn’t have time after work to make it that far. I went in a little after six and surfed for a couple of hours. It wasn’t nearly as good as it was last Thursday, but I was glad to get in and get some exercise. Todd had mentioned he was interested in coming along, but he blew me off, so I went without him. I wore the 4.3, and surfed the Bruce Jones. I probably could have gone with a longer board tonight, but I’m pretty comfortable with that board right now. No hood, and that’s no problem now. I’m still wearing booties and gloves. I talked to another guy in the water who said he was cold. He said he was wearing a 4.3, but he didn't have gloves on, so maybe that was why. There were six or seven other guys in the water, two of them surfing without leashes on their boards. I would have been pissed if one of their boards hit me, but it didn’t happen. I did see one guy chasing after his board a number of times. It amazes me that guys can be that inconsiderate of the others in the water around them. I’m so happy that you’re that confident in your swimming, but you’re such a huge asshole for allowing your board to escape and club me when I’m trying to paddle back out. It has happened before, but fortunately it didn’t tonight. I had no spectacular rides tonight, because the waves just weren’t that good. It was by no means clean. But there were a couple of fun waves and a good workout. I’ll sleep well tonight. The forecast for tomorrow is supposed to be cleaner. It would be great if I could get out again.
